Director of Business Development – Digital Partnerships (China)

About the role

Mastercard is seeking a strategic and results‑driven Director of Business Development to lead global partnership efforts with top‑tier Chinese internet companies. The role will shape and execute a multi‑year partnership strategy that drives revenue growth, product innovation and market expansion.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and own the global partnership strategy for an assigned portfolio of key Chinese accounts.
• Identify and prioritize opportunities across co‑branded products, core payment processing, new payment flows, data & analytics and cybersecurity.
• Cultivate and maintain strong C‑level relationships, acting as the primary strategic contact and trusted advisor.
• Lead end‑to‑end deal execution, including ideation, structuring, negotiation, legal review and signing.
• Own business case development and P&L modelling for partnership opportunities.
• Orchestrate internal Mastercard resources (Product, Engineering, Marketing, Legal, Compliance, Regional Market teams) to build compelling proposals.
• Maintain deep market intelligence on competitive landscape, regulatory environment and emerging trends.
• Achieve and exceed partnership‑derived revenue targets and identify new monetisation avenues.

Required profile

• Minimum 10+ years of progressive experience in business development, strategic partnerships or corporate development, preferably within payments, fintech or technology.
• Proven track record of leading complex, cross‑border deals and delivering measurable revenue growth.
• Strong commercial acumen, executive presence and ability to influence senior stakeholders.
