Software Engineer (Elixir/Phoenix) – Remote in Latin America

About the role

Bluelight, a fast‑growing software consultancy, is looking for a Software Engineer specialized in Elixir and the Phoenix framework to join its remote team serving clients across the United States and Latin America. The role offers the chance to work on high‑performance backend systems, collaborate with product and design teams, and contribute to innovative projects.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain high‑performance, reusable backend services and APIs using Elixir and Phoenix.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to translate requirements into scalable architectures.
• Own features from specification through launch, writing clean code and managing releases.
• Write unit and integration tests, conduct code reviews, and uphold code quality standards.
• Identify bottlenecks, fix bugs, and continuously improve performance, scalability, and fault tolerance.
• Stay up‑to‑date with Elixir ecosystem trends and best practices.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional software development experience, primarily backend.
• Strong proficiency with Elixir and the Phoenix framework.
• Experience with OTP, concurrent and distributed systems, and functional programming principles.
• Proven ability to design and implement RESTful or GraphQL APIs.
• Hands‑on experience with PostgreSQL and Ecto.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in an agile, collaborative environment.
