Assistant Production Superintendent

About the role

Belize Sugar Industries Ltd is seeking an Assistant Production Superintendent to support the Industrial Operations Production Superintendent in daily sugar production at its Tower Hill facility. The role ensures efficient, safe, and quality‑focused manufacturing while driving continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily milling, clarification, evaporation, crystallisation, centrifugation and sugar drying operations.
• Ensure production targets, efficiency rates and quality standards are consistently met.
• Assist in developing and implementing production schedules aligned with cane supply, factory capacity and product demand.
• Maintain accurate production records, analyse output data and prepare regular performance reports.
• Work with the Quality Supervisor to verify raw sugar, direct consumption sugars and by‑product standards.
• Promote a safety‑first culture and enforce health and safety standards.
• Supervise and motivate shift production superintendents, shift pan boilers, shift operators and other production personnel.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance with Engineering/Maintenance to reduce equipment downtime.
• Identify process improvement opportunities to enhance productivity, recovery rates and cost efficiency.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, Sugar Technology or a related field.
• Five to eight years of experience in sugar manufacturing or a similar process plant.
• At least three years in a supervisory or management role.
• Strong leadership, communication and analytical abilities.
• Self‑motivated with an exceptional work ethic.
• Proven budgeting, planning and coordination skills.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of sugar manufacturing processes and equipment.
• Proficiency in production planning and process optimisation.
• Experience with quality management systems.
• Bilingual capability in English and Spanish.
