Human Resources Officer

About the role

The Human Resources Officer will manage day‑to‑day HR operations for the University of Belize, ensuring compliance across the employee lifecycle and acting as a trusted link between management and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Manage full recruitment cycle, from advertising to onboarding and probation reviews.
• Administer compensation, benefits, pensions, gratuities and oversee payroll inputs.
• Provide first‑line HR advice to employees and managers and handle performance management processes.
• Maintain accurate HR records, ensure compliance, and produce HR analytics dashboards.
• Coordinate learning & development activities, health & safety administration, and employee communications.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field.
• 3–5 years of HR experience, including supervisory responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of Belize labour laws, public service regulations and university policies.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel (advanced), PowerPoint and email.
• Experience using HRIS, e‑recruitment platforms and HR analytics tools.
