Project Manager

About the role

Hamanasi, an award‑winning eco‑resort on Belize’s southern coast, is looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead renovation, construction and capital‑improvement projects. This is a full‑time, on‑site, one‑year fixed‑term role reporting to the General Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, schedule and budget renovation and construction projects, defining scopes, phases, milestones, labour and material requirements.
• Develop and maintain a master programme of works, prioritising projects with the General Manager and Ownership.
• Prepare project budgets and cash‑flow forecasts, monitoring actual costs against approved budgets.
• Coordinate designers, architects and contractors to ensure clear, buildable drawings, specifications and bills of quantities.
• Monitor contractor performance, productivity and safety, addressing under‑performance promptly.
• Conduct daily site inspections to verify compliance with drawings, regulations and Belizean building practices.
• Work closely with internal departments to minimise noise, disruption and safety exposure to guests.
• Maintain health‑ and safety standards, including risk assessments, PPE, barriers and signage.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience managing construction, renovation or capital‑improvement projects.
• Proven ability to manage project budgets, schedules, multiple contractors and concurrent workstreams.
• Knowledge of Belizean building practices and regulations.
• Ability to work independently, make sound decisions in a remote resort environment and maintain physical fitness for active site work.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interaction with contractors, designers, guests and ownership.

Required skills

• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications and bills of quantities.
• Strong working knowledge of project management tools, including scheduling, budgeting and reporting software.
• Basic trauma care and first‑aid training (or willingness to obtain certification).
• Competence in material procurement coordination and cost control.
