Remote Software Engineer (Elixir/Phoenix) – Latin America

About the role

Bluelight is seeking a passionate Software Engineer to join its fast‑growing consultancy. You will work remotely from anywhere in Latin America, collaborating with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to deliver high‑quality backend solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain high‑performance backend services and APIs using Elixir and the Phoenix framework.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to translate product requirements into scalable architecture.
• Own features from specification through launch, writing clean code and managing releases.
• Write unit and integration tests, conduct code reviews, and uphold a strong quality culture.
• Identify bottlenecks, fix bugs, and continuously improve performance, scalability, and fault tolerance.
• Stay current with Elixir ecosystem trends and best practices.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional backend development experience.
• Strong proficiency with Elixir and Phoenix.
• Experience with OTP, concurrent and distributed systems, and functional programming principles.
• Proven ability to design and implement RESTful or GraphQL APIs.
• Hands‑on experience with PostgreSQL and Ecto.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, agile mindset.
