Software Engineer (Elixir/Phoenix) – Remote Latin America

About the role

Bluelight is seeking a skilled Software Engineer to join its rapidly growing consultancy team. This remote position focuses on building high‑performance backend systems using Elixir and the Phoenix framework, supporting clients across the United States and Latin America.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain reusable, reliable backend services and APIs with Elixir/Phoenix.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to translate requirements into scalable architectures.
• Own features from specification through launch, writing clean code and managing releases.
• Write unit and integration tests, conduct code reviews, and uphold code quality standards.
• Identify bottlenecks, fix bugs, and continuously improve performance, scalability, and fault tolerance.
• Stay current with Elixir ecosystem trends and best practices.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional backend development experience.
• Strong proficiency in Elixir and Phoenix, with hands‑on experience in OTP and functional programming.
• Experience designing RESTful or GraphQL APIs and working with PostgreSQL via Ecto.
• Ability to work effectively in an agile, collaborative remote team.
