Software Architect (AWS, NodeJS) – Remote (Latin America)

About the role

Bluelight is seeking a senior Software Architect to lead the design of high‑performance, cloud‑native applications for its growing client base. This fully remote position focuses on building low‑latency services on AWS using Node.js and TypeScript, while collaborating with cross‑functional teams across the Americas.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement low‑latency service architectures on AWS, including queues, caches, and search projections.
• Define explicit latency budgets (p95/p99) and ensure synchronous durable commits for hot paths.
• Architect audit and evidence systems such as append‑only event logs and deterministic replay mechanisms.
• Create fail‑open/fail‑closed and degraded‑state semantics, and define outage postures.
• Design secure multi‑tenant environments, evaluating RLS, schema‑per‑tenant, and database‑per‑tenant trade‑offs.
• Develop scalable RESTful APIs and SDK integrations with external services.
• Produce architecture documentation, diagrams, and technical decision records (ADRs).
• Conduct architecture and code reviews, mentor engineering teams, and present decisions to clients and security reviewers.
• Model cloud capacity, cost, and performance using the AWS Well‑Architected Framework.
• Leverage AI coding assistants as part of daily development workflows.

Required profile

• 8+ years of professional software development experience, with at least 3 years in an architecture‑focused role.
• Proven ability to work remotely while overlapping with US business hours.
• Strong analytical mindset and experience delivering complex, end‑to‑end systems.
