AgGrowPro District Agronomist

About the role

Belize Sugar Industries Ltd is seeking an AgGrowPro District Agronomist to be based at Tower Hill, Orange Walk. The role provides agronomic services, technical assistance, and crop‑management support to sugar‑cane growers across the district, aiming to boost productivity, sustainability and profitability.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver AgGrowPro services to cane growers in line with quality standards and service protocols.
• Provide agronomic advice and technical assistance throughout crop planning, establishment and management.
• Develop and implement programs to increase cane yields and sugar production.
• Promote improved varieties and sustainable farming techniques.
• Monitor pest, disease and weed infestations and recommend appropriate crop‑protection practices.
• Coordinate field surveys, report emerging threats and conduct training sessions, workshops and field demonstrations.
• Prepare educational materials and technical guidelines for growers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering, Agronomy or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant agricultural experience, with hands‑on sugar‑cane farming.
• Strong knowledge of sugar‑cane agronomy, crop establishment, replanting and ratoon maintenance.
• Experience coordinating field equipment and daily operations.
• Proven ability to build effective relationships with growers and internal stakeholders.
• Professionalism, integrity, confidentiality and strong communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Experience with digital agriculture tools for data collection and reporting.
