Operations Officer – UNV Assignment in Belize

About the role

The United Nations Volunteers programme is seeking an Operations Officer to support the World Bank Group’s engagement in Belize. Based in Belmopan, this six‑month full‑time assignment will help manage the country portfolio, conduct strategic analysis, and coordinate with government, development partners, civil society and the private sector.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor portfolio performance and prepare periodic updates, management briefs and progress reports.
• Support portfolio reviews, annual business planning, work planning and budget monitoring.
• Contribute to country strategy, analytical and advisory work.
• Prepare briefing notes, talking points, presentations and other management materials.
• Coordinate with government institutions, development partners, civil society and private‑sector stakeholders.
• Support meetings, missions, high‑level visits and follow‑up actions.
• Capture lessons learned and good practices across the portfolio.

Required profile

• 8+ years of relevant professional experience in development operations, portfolio management, programme implementation or public‑sector engagement.
• Master’s degree in Economics, Public Policy, International Development, International Finance, Business Administration or a related field (or Bachelor’s plus two additional years of experience).
• Strong analytical, stakeholder‑engagement, coordination and report‑writing skills.
• Experience with multilateral development banks, international financial institutions, UN entities or similar organisations (highly desirable).
• Knowledge of Belize’s development context.
• Fluent English.
• Belizean nationality.
