Barback

About the role

Belize Island Holdings, a subsidiary of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, is hiring a Barback for its resort in Southern Belize. The Barback assists the Bartender in keeping the bar stocked, clean and user-friendly, supporting excellent and efficient service to guests.

Key responsibilities

• Help with opening, sides and closing: restock the bar with garnish, straws and other items, and check taps and appliances.
• Keep the bar stocked with ice, bar mixers, liquor, wine and beer, and restock for the next shift and for deliveries received during the day.
• Track opening or closing liquor inventory and notify the bartender or manager of low stock.
• Keep the bar clean: wipe surfaces, sweep and mop, remove soiled glassware and utensils, clean drink spills, sweep broken glass and repair sink clogs.
• Run food, clear plates, take out the trash and collect empty glasses.
• Set up and tear down the bar at each shift change.
• Follow company uniform and grooming standards, maintain good relationships with colleagues and ensure a harassment-free environment.
• Respond calmly to emergencies, follow safety and sanitation practices, complete required training and help train new staff.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; previous barback experience is an asset.
• Food handlers' certificate.
• English language.
• Physically fit and hardworking.

• Basic knowledge of bar operations.
• Customer service skills.
• Attention to detail, strong work ethic and adaptability.
