Deckhand

About the role

The Deckhand supports daily operations and maintenance of the vessel, ensuring safety, cleanliness, and functionality for smooth operations.

Key responsibilities

• Perform regular cleaning and maintenance of decks, mechanical and safety equipment, including painting and varnishing.
• Assist with docking and undocking procedures, handling mooring lines and anchor equipment.
• Participate in safety drills, monitor hazards, and report equipment malfunctions.
• Help load and unload cargo, securing it safely for transport.
• Support navigation and watchkeeping duties under senior officers and operate deck machinery.
• Provide general assistance to crew, officers, and the Marine Operations Manager as needed.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous maritime experience preferred but not required.
• Open Water Diver certification is an asset.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and physical fitness for manual labor.
• Ability to work in varying weather conditions and be an efficient swimmer.
