Examiner, Off‑Site Surveillance

About the role

The Examiner, Off‑Site Surveillance, conducts risk‑based off‑site monitoring of licensed financial institutions, analysing their financial condition, performance and risk profile to support supervisory decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct quantitative and qualitative off‑site surveillance of assigned institutions.
• Review periodic returns, regulatory submissions, audited financial statements and other information for compliance.
• Prepare financial and regulatory reports for the Board and other supervisory purposes.
• Monitor institutions under enhanced supervision, providing updates and recommendations.
• Assist in assessing applications from banks, credit unions and other supervised entities.
• Maintain communication with institutions and support them on regulatory matters.
• Identify emerging risks and provide information for supervisory action.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, banking, finance or economics.
• At least one year of relevant experience.
• Familiarity with Belize’s banking and financial legislation and international best practices.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
