Operations Manager – Beachfront Resort in Belize

About the role

The Operations Manager leads day‑to‑day rooms operations at The Placencia Resort, overseeing Front Office, Housekeeping and Maintenance while supporting spa, pool and recreation areas. This hands‑on position is critical during a 2027 renovation, ensuring high service standards and preparing the team for new brand standards.

Key responsibilities

• Direct daily Front Office, Housekeeping and Maintenance operations to deliver clean, well‑maintained guest rooms and a welcoming experience.
• Establish and maintain a guestroom inspection program, tracking housekeeping and preventive‑maintenance inspections in the service‑optimization system.
• Coordinate arrivals, room assignments, VIP and loyalty member planning, and manage linen, supplies and equipment inventories within budget.
• Support spa, pool and recreation areas to ensure safe, consistent guest experiences.
• Engage with guests, monitor satisfaction surveys and online reviews, and execute service‑recovery actions.
• Lead the transition to Remington Hospitality systems, build departmental structures, and prepare the team for brand‑standard reopening.
• Recruit, train, schedule and develop Front Office, Housekeeping and Maintenance staff, ensuring compliance with brand and Belize Labour Act requirements.
• Manage labour, payroll and expenses against budget, ensure health‑safety compliance, and serve as Manager on Duty as scheduled.

Required profile

• 3–5 years progressive rooms‑division or hotel‑operations leadership, preferably in a resort environment.
• Experience with hotel openings, transitions or renovations; proven ability to build structure, processes and staffing plans.
• Knowledge of international brand standards, quality audits and guest‑satisfaction programs.
• Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Business or related field preferred (not required).
• Excellent English communication; Spanish a plus.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of property‑management systems such as Opera.
• Experience with service‑optimization platforms like HotSOS or similar.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
