Staff Accountant at Beachfront Resort in Belize

About the role

The Staff Accountant supports all financial activities of The Placencia Resort, a 90‑room beachfront property in Belize. Reporting to the General Manager, the role ensures accurate accounting, payroll, and reporting during a major renovation.

Key responsibilities

• Process accounts payable and receivable, manage vendor payments and guest billing.
• Perform nightly audit, reconcile cash, credit‑card and bank activity, and prepare month‑end journal entries.
• Prepare and process payroll, including overtime, tips and statutory deductions.
• Remit Social Security, income tax and other statutory payments.
• Maintain financial controls, produce timely reports and support audits.
• Assist the transition to Remington Hospitality accounting systems and track renovation expenses.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of accounting experience, preferably in a hotel or resort.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field preferred.
• Knowledge of Belize payroll, Social Security and tax requirements is strongly preferred.
• Strong attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines despite interruptions.
