Principal AI Platform Engineer – AI Center of Excellence

About the role

Mastercard’s AI Center of Excellence is looking for a Principal AI Platform Engineer to design, build, and scale the next‑generation infrastructure that powers the company’s growing AI workloads. The role combines deep technical expertise with a product‑owner mindset to deliver high‑performance, enterprise‑wide AI platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Lead AI infrastructure roadmap for Mastercard’s on‑prem private cloud, covering strategy, design, procurement, delivery and lifecycle management.
• Act as product owner for AI infrastructure, translating data‑science and business requirements into scalable platform capabilities for predictive ML and generative AI.
• Drive RFI and RFP processes for CPUs, GPUs, storage and networking, defining technical and commercial criteria and collaborating with sourcing and finance.
• Architect and scale systems that train large‑scale models on petabytes of data while supporting low‑latency inference for thousands of transactions per second worldwide.
• Define and champion modern AI infrastructure standards, including high‑performance storage, high‑speed networking, liquid‑cooling and power‑density requirements.

Required profile

• Deep technical expertise in AI infrastructure and on‑prem private‑cloud environments.
• Proven ability to lead complex, enterprise‑scale projects from concept to production.
• Strong product ownership mindset with experience translating business needs into technical solutions.
• Excellent stakeholder management, influencing cross‑functional teams and external vendors.
