Barista – Guest‑focused Café Service

About the role

The Barista will prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages, ensuring an excellent café experience for guests at Harvest Caye. This position involves direct customer interaction, handling payments, and maintaining a clean, inviting service area.

Key responsibilities

• Welcome guests, inform them of specials, take orders and process cash or card payments.
• Prepare coffee, tea, sandwiches and baked goods, grind and brew coffee beans, and serve beverages.
• Package food and drinks for sale, restock work areas, empty trash and sanitize equipment.
• Update signage and displays to attract customers and track inventory of café supplies.
• Maintain espresso machines, grinders and other coffee equipment, ensuring they are clean and functional.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Customer service or restaurant experience; prior barista experience is a plus.
• Ability to stand, walk and bend for extended periods.
• Availability for early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Polite, engaging personality with a commitment to customer satisfaction.

Required skills

• Operation of point‑of‑sale (POS) equipment.
• Use and maintenance of espresso machines, coffee grinders and brewing equipment.
• Preparation of coffee, tea and basic food items.
