Senior Full Stack Engineer (Node/React) - Remote

About the role

Kake is a remote-first community of senior engineers behind products ranging from Fortune 500 brands to fast-growing companies. It is looking for a Senior Software Engineer specializing in Node.js and React, able to build high-performance, scalable systems serving millions of users and to own problems end-to-end, working closely with product and design.

Key responsibilities

• Build and ship production features end-to-end across Node.js backends and React frontends, from implementation through deployment.
• Design, build and version REST or GraphQL APIs that connect frontend and backend systems.
• Make architecture decisions on data modelling, service boundaries and component design, using event-driven thinking where appropriate.
• Model and query data across relational and NoSQL stores, choosing the right database and structure for each use case.
• Write clean, well-tested code and set up observability to catch and debug issues in live systems.

Required profile

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with hands-on Node.js and React work.
• Experience designing and versioning REST or GraphQL APIs.
• Strong system-design instincts, including data modelling, component architecture and event-driven thinking.
• Comfortable with relational databases and SQL, plus familiarity with NoSQL such as MongoDB.
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills across distributed systems.
• Excellent written and verbal English and ability to work independently in a remote, fast-paced environment.
• Nice to have: availability aligned with the partner's time zone.
